2019 Isole e Olena 'Cepparello' Toscana IGT

James Molesworth, Decanter, January 2023

“The weather in 2019 was beautiful, with a hot, even summer with no temperature spikes, continuing into September with high variation between daytime and nighttime temperatures. Fragrant potpourri and medicinal aromas are reminiscent of the 2006, while the textured palate features pure, ripe cherry with some damp earth and even an umami hint of mushroom, cut through by bright acidity. Lively and dimensional, it's still in its youthful phase but should be superb once it's had time to grow into itself.”

2018 Colomé Altura Máxima Malbec

Luis Gutiérrez, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, November 2022

“The super intense 2018 Altura Máxima Malbec has notes of black olives, soy sauce, decayed violets, ripe fruit and exotic spices and woods, and it feels very different from the rest of the range. This is an exceptional wine from one of the highest commercial vineyards in the world, reaching 3,111 meters above sea level. The palate is full-bodied, and the wine is very intense and ripe at 14.5% alcohol. In 2018, they harvested earlier, the equivalent to the 1st of October in the Northern Hemisphere. It's full-bodied, round, large, concentrated and powerful, exceptional and different. 8,400 bottles were filled in August 2020 after spending 24 months in used barrels.”

2019 Colomé 1831 Malbec

Tim Atkin, Tim Atkin, June 2022

“1831 refers to the date the estate was founded, rather than the age of the vineyards, but this still comes from a “plant by plant” selection of pergolas up to 150 years’ old. Dense, serious and suitably intense, with grippy tannins, damson and tobacco leaf flavours and slightly less alcohol than usual. Wonderful stuff. 2023-32”

2021 M. Chapoutier Les Granilites Rouge

James Suckling, James Suckling, May 2023

“Wild berries, roasted meat, smoke, black pepper and some leather, too. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins. Lots of violets on the palate giving it a very delicate and elegant character all along. Bright with crisp acidity and a precise, focused finish. Very mineral and granite-driven. Drink or hold.”

2019 Colomé 1831 Malbec

Luis Gutiérrez, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, November 2022

“There is a new, still unpriced, red produced with the oldest vines in the property as an homage to the year the winery was created, the 2019 1831 Malbec. It's a heady and ripe Malbec at 14.9% alcohol from vines at 2,300 meters above sea level. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in Bordeaux barrels, 30% of them new, for 18 months. It's dark, intense and concentrated, very powerful, and as such, it has swallowed the oak and comes through as fruit-driven and juicy, with pungent flavors and very fine tannins. It's powerful but balanced; dare I say elegant? 6,500 bottles were filled in September 2021”

2018 Colomé Altura Máxima Malbec

Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, November 2021

“The 2018 Malbec Altura Maxima is made with grapes from a vineyard planted at a height of 3100 feet in Payogasta, Calchaquí Valley and was aged for 24 months. A high altitude red, it presents a ripe, balsamic nose with notes of redcurrant and hints of bay leaf, plum jam and chutney. In the mouth, it’s sheer intensity and juice with heightened freshness and finely grained tannins that underline the lengthy palate which delivers good grip and flavor. A wine of excellent aging potential and longevity.”

2020 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico DOCG

Michaela Morris, Decanter, May 2023

“One of Chianti Classico’s most illustrious properties, Isole e Olena was established in 1956. After more than 45 years at the helm, Paolo de Marchi sold the estate last year to luxury company EPI, which also acquired Biondi Santi in 2016. This 2020 takes some time to reveal its tempting fragrance. Wafting flint, cardamom and pepper make way for early spring blossoms and red berries. It has a graceful flow along with a sumptuousness and succulence of raspberry and red plum. Fine powdery tannins frame it. A juicy follow up to the excellent 2019.”

2021 M. Chapoutier La Bernardine Blanc

Jeb Dunnuck, Jeb Dunnuck, November 2022

“The 2021 Chateauneuf Du Pape La Bernardine Blanc showed brilliantly, with a rocking nose of ripe white peach, charcoal, flowers, and spice that gives way to a richer, medium to full-bodied white with bright acidity and a great finish. It's another brilliant white in the vintage.”
