2018 Donnafugata Cuordilava Dolce&Gabbana

“Packaged in a really fun bottle with all the colors of a traditional Sicilian painted horse carriage, this wine is a joint project between Donnafugata and fashion house Dolce & Gabbana. With Nerello Mascalese from 700 meters above sea level on the flank of the Sicilian volcano, the 2018 Etna Rosso Dolce & Gabbana Cuordilava evokes dried currant and cassis with rosemary sprig, rose petal, iron ore and campfire ash. There is some sweet spice over a mid-weight mouthfeel with relatively soft tannins. This special collaboration consists of 7,000 bottles.”

“The 2019 Etna Rosso Fragore is dark and brooding in the glass, with dusty rose and earth tones slowly giving way to reveal crushed black cherries. While round and juicy on the palate, this possesses a core of tart wild berry fruits and mineral tones that slowly saturate and add a youthful tension toward the close. The 2019 finishes structured and long with a last primary concentration as violet inner florals gradually taper off.”
