2020 Ricasoli Roncicone Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG

Monica Larner, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, September 2023

“This is the wine that blew me away last year (when I tasted the excellent 2019 vintage) and assured me of the innovative work now underway at Barone Ricasoli. Today, tasting the 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio Roncicone, I am reminded of the quality fruit obtained from this special 10-hectare site with marine fossils mixed within its sandy topsoil. Showing brilliant clarity and focus, this carefully oak-aged Sangiovese offers rose, dried cherry, campfire ash and delicate mineral tones. This wine paints a beautiful portrait of this grape. Production is 10,000 bottles.”

2013 Rare Millésimé Brut

Claire Nesbitt, James Suckling, April 2023

“Such a pleasingly elegant and multifaceted Champagne with salty, creamy and toasty elements all wound together. Plenty of apricot pastries, pears, brown butter, fennel and salted almonds, with some iodine. It’s silky on the palate, with soft and supple bubbles, while remaining fresh and on edge. 70% chardonnay and 30% pinot noir, from 11 cru villages mostly in Montagne de Reims with Côtes de Blancs. Disgorged December 2022. 9 g/L dosage. Drink or hold. - Claire Nesbitt.”

Overall, this is balanced and long, with a persistent aftertaste of fruit, mineral and savory notes. Best from 2027 through 2048. 225 cases imported.”

2012 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Rosé

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, November 2023

““Fragrant, with wafts of roasted nuts and toasted brioche -- a profile that underscores the palate's flavors of steeped raspberry, peach skin, ground coffee, vanilla and candied mandarin orange peel. Reveals vibrant, well-integrated acidity, which keeps this rich version trim and focused and drives the long, fine-textured finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Disgorged 2021. Drink now through 2035. 125 cases imported.””

Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, December 2023

“A fine, mature and structured Champagne, this is full of fruit but also with a crispness. Its mineral character has softened but still gives a fine texture. This fine wine, with fruit from the Côte des Blancs, is ready to drink.” ”

2020 Ricasoli Colledilà Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG

Monica Larner, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, September 2023

“Of these releases from 2020, I feel that the Barone Ricasoli 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colledilà is the most sensitive to the warm growing season. You sense more fruit ripeness in this wine with savory spice, leather and toasted espresso bean. There is plenty of plum and purple fruit that is framed by crushed stone and campfire ash. Although the bouquet is not quite as brilliant as the 2019 vintage, this expression from 2020 does indeed offer pretty, balanced freshness in terms of mouthfeel. The vineyards see limestone alberese soils, and the wine ages in 500-liter barrel for 22 months (with only 30% new oak). Production is 14,000 bottles.”

2020 Ricasoli CeniPrimo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG

Monica Larner, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, September 2023

“The Barone Ricasoli 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio CeniPrimo opens to a medium-dark saturated appearance and a slightly more concentrated feel that translates into aromas of cherry liqueur, blackberry, spice and sweet earth. This wine carries a little more fruit weight and textural richness thanks to lower-elevation vineyards and silty riverbed soils. However, this wine also offers a spot of vibrant freshness on the close, and that makes a big difference in a warm vintage like this. It remains meticulously balanced throughout. Production is 11,000 bottles.”

Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel Extra Brut

IWSC | International Wine & Spirit Competition, September 2022

“Elegantly composed, with concentrated, layered notes of red apple, raspberry, cherry, baked apples, and further complexity of mushroom, forest floor, toast and bready notes. The fine, creamy mousse is complemented by the fresh, citrus-driven acidity, and punctuated by a lingering finish. ”
