2018 Donnafugata Fragore

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, October 2022

“Fragrant with mineral, floral and cured tobacco notes on the nose, while the palate layers light, satiny tannins with a pure chime of pureed raspberry and hints of red licorice, orange peel and mocha. A lively and appealing, medium-bodied version. Drink now through 2028. 28 cases imported.”

2018 Donnafugata Fragore

Eric Guido, Vinous, July 2022

“Musty red currants, underbrush and crushed ashen stone form a dark and inviting bouquet as the 2018 Etna Rosso Fragore opens in the glass. This is pure and lifted in style, with vivid wild berry fruits and hints of tangerine energized by bright acidity. The palate is left drenched in primary concentration, as bitter hints of licorice and balsamic spice slowly fade. This is a total success for a difficult vintage. The Fragore hails from the Montelaguardia Contrada on the north side of Etna. It's refined in a second-and third-pass barriques for 16 months. ”

2018 Donnafugata Fragore

James Suckling, James Suckling, August 2022

“I love the enveloping fragrance of this Etna red, as much as the breathtaking silkiness on the very concentrated palate. Starts with a blast of red berries, but as it flows over the palate, it slowly turns in a totally Mediterranean direction. Notes of capers and wild mountain herbs at the staggeringly long finish. Still slightly tight, so try to be patient. ”

2019 Donnafugata Sul Vulcano Etna Bianco

Eric Guido, Vinous, July 2022

“An enticing blend of lemon custard, sweet spice and blood orange make the 2019 Etna Bianco Sul Vulcano impossible to ignore. This is soft-textured with medium-bodied weight, nicely contrasted by saline-minerals, young pear, and hints of almond. It leaves a staining of primary concentration, citrusy and tart while fading long and classically dry. The Sul Volcano is a varietal Mt. Etna Carricante. ”

2019 Donnafugata Sul Vulcano Etna Bianco

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, November 2022

“A round, creamy white, with pretty lime blossom and graphite aromas wafting through flavors of ripe, juicy creamed apple and pear and rich hints of honeycomb, vanilla and lemon-infused pastry cream. This is backed by citrus peel acidity, which provides refreshing snap on the finish.”

2019 Donnafugata Sul Vulcano Etna Bianco

James Suckling, James Suckling, August 2021

“Although this has tons of Etna mineral character, it's also a very elegant, medium-bodied dry white. Lovely interplay of white and citrus fruit with subtle herbal and caper character. Wonderful, long and silky finish with a touch of pine nuts. Super winemaking! Drink or hold.”

2016 Pym-Rae Red Blend

Jeb Dunnuck, Jeb Dunnuck, December 2021

“The 2016 Pym-Rae continues to show well, with a rich, meaty, powerful style as well as loads of chocolaty black fruits, tobacco, black olive tapenade, and leather-like aromas and flavors. It's beautiful on the palate, with massive concentration and depth as well as terrific balance. This gorgeous, deep, opulent beauty is going to benefit from another 4-6 years of bottle age and live for 3-4 decades.”

2019 Pym-Rae Red Blend

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, December 2023

“Impressively ripe and concentrated, it offers scents of cassis, violet and hints of dark chocolate on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is silky-smooth, framed by dusty tannins on the long, focused finish. Yes, it's somewhat Bordeaux-like in shape, but it's fully ripe, with black cherries emerging on the finish, along with the slightest touch of alcoholic warmth.”

2013 Rare Millésimé Brut

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, December 2023

CELLAR SELECTION
The Champagne's name is just right. It has a rare finesse that gives it a wonderful tense character. Poised between dryness, great maturity and dense fruit, the wine is ready to drink.”
