“This features a silky texture, with cardamom and white chocolate flavors framing the core of ripe orchard fruit. Well-crafted, showing harmony and length. Delivers complexity on the mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2026. 5,000 cases made, 350 cases imported.”

2017 Laurenz V. Charming Grüner Veltliner

Anne Krebiehl, Wine Enthusiast, September 2019

“A creamy aspect joins the pear drop candy notes on the fresh, fruity nose. The palate is concentrated and shimmers with white pepper between the flashes of ripe, juicy pear fruit. A lovely texture recalls citrus pith and freshness.”

2016 Colomé Altura Máxima Malbec

Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, June 2019

“Dark medium ruby. High-pitched scents of black fruits, bitter chocolate and violet. Wonderfully suave, thick and weightless, displaying terrific density and definition to its juicy flavors of blackberry, cassis and graphite minerality. What stands out most here is the wine's sophisticated silkiness of texture and light touch. A classic manifestation of high-altitude flavor intensity (this vineyard is on granite and calcaire soil at an altitude of 10,200 feet!), this broad, full-bodied beauty finishes with a firm tannic spine and a rising, tactile whiplash of flavor. Amazing Malbec--as impressive as any in Argentina. (15.3% alcohol, with acidity of 6.2 grams per liter; aged for 24 months in used French barriques)”

2015 Colomé Altura Máxima Malbec

Luis Gutiérrez, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, June 2018

“The 2015 Altura Máxima Malbec is all black olives, decayed violets and malted cereals, a wild and unusual wine with high ripeness but a medium-bodied palate with fine-grained tannins. It is produced with grapes from their seven-year-old vineyard at 3,100 meters in altitude, the highest vineyard in the world producing commercial wine. The grapes were harvested fully ripe at the end of April, which is the equivalent to the end of October in the northern hemisphere. Here, latitude compensates for the altitude, and the grapes manage to ripen fully with strong exposure to sunlight. It matured in fourth use French barriques for 24 months. 6,900 bottles were filled in December 2017.”

2018 Colomé Auténtico Malbec

Meredith May, Tasting Panel, November 2020

“Known for its high elevation vineyards located at 7500-foot elevations in the country’s northwest, where sunshine produces thicker skinned grapes, this red offers va-voom on its perfumed floral nose. Violets and plum create a creamy dream palate, fresh and focused. A subtle black pepper runs through, with additional notes of fig, clove and dense blue fruit.”

2019 Colomé Auténtico Malbec

Vinous, October 2020

“Auténtico is a wine inspired by old reds from Calchaquíes, when there wasn’t any oak to tone down the intensity of the region. A Malbec from the Colomé vineyard, set at 2,300 meters above sea level, it’s dark as a moonless night in the valley, with a nose of spice, blackberry, syrup and country herbs. Elemental, concentrated and intense, presenting a firm structure and active tannins. A bed is provided by the significant but well-integrated amount of alcohol, while the finish is sweet. Mountain-top sun in a bottle.”

2019 Colomé Estate Torrontés

James Suckling, James Suckling, April 2020

“Plenty of lemon-rind, white-peach and green-apple aromas follow through to a full-bodied, firm and fresh palate and a long, lingering finish. Shows tightness and crispness down the line. Drink now.”

2018 Colomé Estate Malbec

James Suckling, James Suckling, April 2020

“Lots of concentration here. This is packed with dense, ripe black cherries, damsons and iodine. Floral and spicy accents, too. Full-bodied, very big and dense with a tannin structure of grandeur. Yet, there’s no lack of mid-palate detail. Lay it down in your cellar. Better after 2023.”

2018 Colomé Auténtico Malbec

Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, June 2019

“Bright ruby. Pungent, high-toned aromas of blackberry, minerals and licorice. Thick and mouthfilling but leavened by terrific penetrating acidity. The dark berry, wild herb, licorice and chalky mineral flavors are complemented by a chocolatey ripeness. Sweet, plush tannins saturate the entire palate, with the finish displaying explosive length. Very strong, very pure and very smooth; expressive and unique. The Dávalos family, owners of Bodega Tacuil, also owned Colomé before selling the property to Donald Hess in 2001. (this wine, made without any oak contact, represents a tribute to the old RD bottling of Bodega Tacuil)”
