2017 Puech-Haut La Closerie

Gillian Sciaretta, Wine Spectator, January 2021

“A powerful red with a broad profile, packed with blackberry, olive, dark chocolate and garrigue notes that are refined and backed by black peppercorn, cured meat and hot stone details. Nicely integrated tannins. Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2028. 5,900 cases made, 2,200 cases imported.”

2016 Puech-Haut La 40ème

Jeb Dunnuck, April 2019

“A blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah brought up in two-thirds new oak, the 2016 La 40 ème is only made in top vintages and was previously made in 2002, 2007, and 2010. It stands out in the lineup and reminds me of an old school Châteauneuf-du-Pape with its bloody, meaty, olive-laced notes of ground pepper, smoked earth, garrigue, and assorted dark fruits. With full-bodied richness, a concentrated, deep, layered texture, and sweet tannins, it’s a monster of a wine that stays perfectly balanced. Give bottles 2-3 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following 10-15 years.”

2016 Puech-Haut Clos du Pic

Jeb Dunnuck, April 2019

“I was blown away by the 2016 Le Clos Du Pic, which is a 60/40 split of Syrah and Mourvèdre that spent 18 months in barrel. Its deep purple color is followed by an opulent, sexy, full-bodied Pic Saint Loup that knocks it out of the park with its ample dark fruits, kirsch liqueur, ground herbs, cracked black pepper, and graphite. A big, rich, powerful wine, it stays graceful and balanced, and just glides over the palate. Hats offer to the team at Puech Haut for another incredible wine.”

2016 Puech-Haut Bosc Negre

Jeb Dunnuck, April 2019

“The 2016 Bosc Negre is the Mourvèdre dominated cuvée of the estate (there’s 10% tank-aged Grenache), destemmed and brought up in new barrels. It’s another rich, powerful wine from this estate that stays beautifully balanced. Classic notes of kirsch, blackberries, ground pepper, bouquet garni, and smoked earth all flow to full-bodied 2016 that has terrific purity, building tannins, and a layered, multi-dimensional texture that ranks with the best wines out there. It has plenty of upfront appeal but is going to benefit from a few years of bottle age.”

2019 Puech-Haut Argali Rosé

Gillian Sciaretta, Wine Spectator, December 2020

“A mineral-driven rosé with tangerine and melon flavors that are nicely accented with spice and herb elements. Hints of white raspberry round out the mouthwatering finish. Grenache and Cinsault. Drink now. 95,000 cases made, 14,120 cases imported.”

2019 Puech-Haut Argali Rosé

Jeb Dunnuck, August 2020

“Released in a beautiful, frosted bottle, the 2019 Argali Rose reveals a light pink color as well as a terrific nose of tart cherries, citrus pith, white flowers, and white peach. A medium-bodied, rich, beautifully textured rosé, it spans the gap between the vibrant, fresh and quaffable Provençal efforts and a richer, Gigondas or Tavel style rosé. It's beautifully balanced, with good acidity and a clean, crisp finish.”

2019 Puech-Haut Argali Rosé

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, June 2020

“A 60-40 blend of Grenache and Cinsault, Puech-Haut's 2019 IGP Pays d'Oc Argali Rosé is a pale-pink but fruit-forward offering. Scents of strawberries and fresh citrus mark the nose, while the medium-bodied palate is silky and plump, coming to a fully dry and crisp finish.”

2019 Château Beaulieu Cuvée Alexandre

Gillian Sciaretta, Wine Spectator, September 2020

“Cantaloupe and peach flavors are interwoven with jicama, heather and mineral notes in this charming rosé, with white tea and herb details gliding into the finish. Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Rolle and Sémillon. Drink now. 25,000 cases made, 2,200 cases imported”

2019 Château Beaulieu Cuvée Alexandre

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, July 2020

“Grenache and Cinsault dominate this wine. Rich structure comes from the intense acidity, light tannin edge and full, red-fruit flavors. Still young, the wine will be better from late 2020”

2019 Château Beaulieu Cuvée Alexandre

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, May 2020

“The 2019 Coteaux d'Aix en Provence Rose Cuvée Alexandre is quite austere, giving up little more than struck flint on the nose, and following that with lemon and grapefruit flavors. It's light to medium-bodied, focused and crisp, still flinty and ungenerous on the finish. Fans of so-called minerally wines—the winery says this reflects the volcanic terroir—will enjoy this more than I did.”
