2012 Piper-Heidsieck Vintage Brut

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, December 2019

“A crowd-pleasing example, showing overall balance and integration, with lightly mouthwatering acidity and a creamy texture married to an appealing mix of white cherry, almond biscotti, lemon curd and anise flavors. A lovely streak of spicy minerality drives the long finish. Drink now through 2027. 8,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.”

2012 Piper-Heidsieck Vintage Brut

William Kelley, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, August 2019

“Unfurling in the glass with incipiently complex aromas of citrus oil, wheat toast, fresh peach and crisp orchard fruit, the newly released 2012 Vintage Brut is full-bodied, deep and tightly wound, with excellent concentration, racy acids and a fine mousse, concluding with a long and penetrating finish. Even though it's still a little reserved after its recent disgorgement,”

Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Sublime

William Kelley, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, August 2019

“A very creditable contribution to what has become an unfashionable genre is Piper-Heidsieck's NV Demi-Sec Cuvée Sublime, a lovely wine that wafts from the glass with aromas of honeyed peaches, fresh pastry, nectarine and caramelized citrus. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with good depth at the core, racy acids and a fine mousse, concluding with a precise finish that avoids any suggestion of cloying sweetness despite its off-dry style. Expect it to sing with additional bottle age.”

“Nicely crafted, this red sports bright raspberry notes cut with anise, cola and dried floral flavors. Welcoming savory undertones of olive, garrigue and hot stone accentuate the savory spice details on the long finish. Muscular tannins. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan. Drink now through 2026. 8,200 cases made, 336 cases imported.”

2017 Puech-Haut Tête de Belier Rouge

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, May 2019

“The 2017 Languedoc Saint Drezery Tête de Bélier is a sexy blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 5% each Carignan and Mourvèdre. Smoke, garrigue and black-cherry scents all combine on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is spicy, rich and concentrated, offering plenty of substance to chew on and adding hints of licorice on the long finish.”

2017 Puech-Haut Tête de Belier Rouge

Jeb Dunnuck, April 2019

“The 2017 Tête De Belier shows the changing style at this estate and offers a more Northern Rhône vibe in its green olive, bacon fat, smoked herbs, and meaty black fruits. Based on 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache, and the rest Mourvèdre and Carignan, aged in barrel, it’s medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated yet focused texture, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age.”

2019 Puech-Haut Tête de Belier Rosé

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, June 2020

“Almost entirely Mourvèdre (the appellation requires the wine to be a blend), the 2019 Languedoc Tête de Bélier Rosé features strawberry-like aromas alongside hints of crushed stone, tropical fruit (guava?) and fresh citrus. It's on the full-bodied side of things for a rosé, yet it doesn't come across as being heavy or overly rich, just concentrated, with a long, silky finish.”

2019 Puech-Haut Tête de Belier Rosé

Jeb Dunnuck, August 2020

“Another beautiful rosé from this estate that does everything right, the 2019 Languedoc Tete Belier Rose reveals a light pink color as well as beautiful notes of white peach, strawberries, and flowers. Made mostly from Mourvèdre, it's medium-bodied, has perfectly integrated acidity, terrific balance, and a clean, dry, juicy finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. It's a gem of a rosé that can be enjoyed on its own or with any number of tapas or starters.”
