Proposed Tariffs on European Wines

Proposed Tariffs on European Wines

The holidays are officially here, as are the recently proposed tariffs up to 100% on European products proposed by The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). There are two proposed tariff actions in play:

1. France’s proposed Digital Services Tax (DST) – tariffs specific to French goods and would force tech giants to pay taxes they have avoided thus far. You can comment directly via the form here.
2. Enforcement of WTO rights involving civil aviation – this was the source of the 25 percent tariffs issued in October and these tariffs apply broadly to goods from most EU nations. You can comment directly via the form here.

The USTR is inviting written comments from the public for each of the proposals, by January 6, responses to France’s digital service tax, and by January 13 tariffs related to the aircraft dispute between Boeing and Airbus.
