2018 Ricasoli Casalferro Toscana IGT

James Suckling, James Suckling, March 2022

“Aromas of violets and plums with some crushed stone and tile, as well as spice, dark olives, flowers and mushrooms. Medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins and pretty fruit. Fresh and vivid with sweet tobacco and sweet plums. Fantastic length. This is much smaller production than in the past.”

2020 Bibi Graetz Testamatta Rosso

Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast, April 2023

“The subtle nose on this wine releases oak notes first, then cherries, soy sauce, herbs, pencil shavings and eraser, and finally a little orange peel. Graphite and soil come through on the palate alongside more cherries, orange and dried herbs. Tannins hold their shape but let the fruit speak, while acid cuts right down the tongue.”

2021 Donnafugata Anthìlia

Eric Guido, Vinous, July 2022

“The 2021 Bianco Anthilia is sweetly scented with notes of green melon, minty herbs and almond paste. It soothes with silky textures, as a tantalizing burst of citrus and saline-tinged acids add energy and verve. While a bit short, the 2021 leaves the palate completely refreshed and aching for more. The Anthilia is composed primarily of Lucido (Catarratto), along with other indigenous varieties.”

2016 Colomé Altura Máxima Malbec

Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, October 2019

“The ripe 2016 Altura Máxima Malbec seems to follow the path of the 2015, with pungent aromas of black olives, damp earth, decayed violets and malted cereals that give it a decadent profile. This hits the scale at 15% alcohol, but the palate feels a lot lighter, with a strong strike of acidity going through its core and lifting it up. This is a unique wine from grapes grown at 3,100 meters in altitude (yes, you read it correctly, that's 3,100 meters in altitude!) where the intensity of the light makes for thick skins and an explosion of flavors and aromas. The tannins are really fine and polished and give it a nice texture. It's clean and long and feels light but with lots of inner strength. A unique Malbec. 8,400 bottles were filled in August 2018”

2015 Colomé Altura Máxima Malbec

Corey Warren, Wine & Spirits, June 2022

“Donald Hess planted his Altura Máxima vineyard in 2007 at a dizzying 10,207 feet above sea level. Perhaps that’s why it takes this malbec takes time to emerge from hiding, though it’s saline from start to finish. After two days open, its structure is broad, and though the flavors are restrained (a smoky umeboshi plum note), the austerity called to mind a salt flat. The tannins seem to cluster in the center of your tongue, and would be nice with char-grilled chicken thighs.”

Corey Warren, Wine & Spirits, June 2022

2020 Bibi Graetz Colore Rosso

James Suckling, James Suckling, July 2022

“The subtlety and perfumed nature of this wine is enchanting, offering flowers, orange peel and cherries. Wonderful ripe strawberries, too. Full-bodied, but not over the top, with tannins that are polished and run the length of the wine. It’s tight, but gives you every indication of a terrific wine. You want to drink it now, and you probably should do, because it’s so alluring. Yet it will age beautifully as well. Drink or hold.”

2020 Bibi Graetz Colore Rosso

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, June 2022

“The Bibi Graetz 2020 Colore is a pure expression of Sangiovese all sourced from old vines that are carefully selected in various parts of Tuscany. Much of the fruit comes from a high elevation and cool site in Lamole, or from 70-year-old vines in Bagno a Ripoli or Vincigliata near Fiesole. A small percentage of old vines in Olmo is also used. Bibi has a preference for old vines, and you can taste the lovely depth and complexity that comes through in the Colore. Compared to his other wine Testamatta, this wine has seen fewer stylistic changes over the years, and the goal has always been elegance and finesse. Colore boasts a pretty luminous quality with dark fruit aromas and wild berry. There are hints of licorice and mint as well. Mineral flavors and bright acidity are what set Colore apart.”

2020 Bibi Graetz Testamatta Rosso

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, June 2022

“Bibi Graetz has long been tinkering with his formula for this wine, and this vintage represents a new chapter. The 2020 Testamatta is a blend of Sangiovese from old and new vines, with a priority on cooler growing conditions (and even a few northern exposures). In the wake of climate change, and in the pursuit of elegance, Bibi is changing his approach. He also has a new vineyard property near Fiesole, and the introduction of these grapes (from a breezy, high-elevation site) are what gives Testamatta its beautiful clarity, sharpness and lifted bouquet. The new Fiesole fruit makes up about 30% to 35% of this wine. The results are vibrant, transparent and fresh both in terms of acidity and aromatic intensity. This is a wine in transformation and a wine to watch.”

2020 Bibi Graetz Testamatta Rosso

James Suckling, James Suckling, July 2022

“Beautiful, fresh aromas of sour cherries, orange peel and lemon bush. Medium-bodied with firm, racy acidity and ultra-fine tannins that add brightness and energy to the wine. This is definitely following the new wave of crunchy, vivid Tuscany sangioveses, which emphasize drinkability and transparency. Lighter than past vintages. Drink now or hold.”
