2015 Vall Llach Porrera Vi de Vila

James Suckling, James Suckling, August 2018

“Smoke and graphite notes as well as big black fruit here. On the palate, the generous fruit and supple tannins are well married, but the oak is a bit obvious on the finish. Drink now or hold.”

2015 El Vínculo Alejairén

Thomas Matthews, Wine Spectator, September 2018

“This rich, distinctive white has a deep gold color and a thick, toothsome texture. Candied orange, dried fig and vanilla flavors give this a dessert wine profile, but without sweetness. Shows enough acidity to stay fresh. Drink now. 200 cases imported.”

2013 El Vínculo Crianza

Thomas Matthews, Wine Spectator, January 2018

“Inside a hard shell of tannins, flavors of kirsch, strawberry preserves and vanilla mingle. A bit candied but lively, thanks to sweet-tart acidity. Slightly disjointed, but has fruit and muscle. Tempranillo. Drink now through 2023. 1,300 cases imported.”

2011 Dehesa La Granja

James Suckling, James Suckling, August 2018

“Big, ripe blackberry and smoky nose with hints of earth and caramel. A full-bodied red with plenty of positive, dry tannins. Pleasantly warm, but also fresh and animating, this is delicious now and should hold through at least 2021.”

2009 Condado de Haza Alenza Gran Reserva

Thomas Matthews, Wine Spectator, September 2018

“This firm red delivers cherry and red plum flavors, with accents of dried herb, black pepper and baking spices. Firm tannins and blood orange acidity keep this balanced. Not showy, but fresh, focused and energetic. Drink now through 2029. 50 cases imported.”

2016 Bruno Giacosa Barbera d'Alba

James Suckling, James Suckling, September 2018

“Loads of blackberries and blueberries here with citrus peel and flowers. Full body, juicy fruit and a vivid and fruity finish. Lots of citrus peel underneath it all. Drink or hold.”

2016 Bibi Graetz Grilli

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, September 2018

“The 2016 Grilli is a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 20% Syrah and 20% Merlot (all from vineyards in Chianti) that is fermented and aged in steel vat to preserve the freshness and the fruit-froward nature of the wine. Grilli is also Bibi Graetz's only wine made with Bordeaux or international grapes instead of Italian indigenous varieties. You get great value at this price point especially if you are looking for a mid-weight red for immediate drinking that is intense, soft, ripe and succulent. The wine opens to a beautifully saturated color with dark veins of crimson and inky purple. The bouquet is redolent of blackberry preserves, sour cherry, dark plum, bitter almond and grilled rosemary twig. The finish closes with subtle tones of menthol or medicinal herb. Drink this wine within the next two or three years. Some 30,000 bottles were made.”

Bibi Graetz Bollamatta

James Suckling, James Suckling, January 2017

“This is more of a rosé with bubbles than a sparkling rosé and I like it. Very fun and refreshing. Medium-bodied, fruity, yet crisp and entertaining. Delicious fruit/acid balance. Sangiovese. Try it!”

2006 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Brut

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, December 2018

“Rich notes of pastry, crushed cherry, espresso cream, saffron and spice are well-meshed with vibrant acidity in this expressive Champagne. Fine and creamy in texture, with a racy, tightly knit finish that should unfold nicely with age. Disgorged in 2017. Drink now through 2028. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 90 cases imported.”

2014 Donnafugata Tancredi

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, December 2018

The 2014 Tancredi is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Nero d'Avola. The wine is creamy and dense with excellent concentration and a smooth style that leaves an especially warm feeling in the mouth. Tancredi is one of those go-to wines when you want something good, but you don't want to think too hard. It offers happy, quality drinking. This is my favorite vintage of Tancredi to date.

2014 Donnafugata Mille e una Notte

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, December 2018

The 2014 Mille e Una Notte is mostly Nero d'Avola with some other red grapes in a supporting role. This was a terrific vintage in Sicily that did not see the below average temperatures and heavy rainfall that plagued the rest of mainland Italy. Instead, the growing season was characterized by balanced temperatures and steady sunshine. The fruit has matured beautifully here, showing blackberry, ripe cherry and plum. Tangy leather and spice add complexity to the wine. This is a full-bodied red with beautiful textual richness.

2006 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Rosé

Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, June 2016

“Charles Heidsieck's 2006 Brut Rosé (with 10% Pinot Noir red wine) has been launched before the 2005. Disgorged at the end of 2014, the wine offers a delicate and intense wild strawberry flavor with some lovely spicy aromas on the nose. Ample, full and round, this is a lovely matured Rosé with a super intense and aromatic Pinot character (sweet cherries, red berries). The finish underlines the great complexity, purity and finesse of this vinous Rosé. There are cherry aromas again in the long aftertaste. An impressive Rosé.”

2006 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Rosé

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, September 2015

“This focused rosé Champagne offers a mousse with the texture of raw silk, which swathes the firm frame in layers of roasted hazelnut, baked peach, toasted brioche and crème de cassis flavors, with a rich and smoky underpinning and accents of candied kumquat, espresso, ground ginger and cumin that expand on the finish. Drink now through 2030.”

2006 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Rosé

Nick Stock, James Suckling, July 2015

“A pale hue in the glass, this has a savory nose that delivers a very nicely struck toasty edge with chalky pastry and faint red fruits. The palate's sophisticated fine texture is mesmerizing. This really dances, leaving a trail of red berry fruits in its wake, through to a long, pure and fresh, spicy finish. Drink now.”

2005 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Brut

Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, June 2016

“The 2005 Vintage Brut – a classic mix of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – is a very ripe and concentrated Champagne with a bit of bitterness in the finish. 2005 was austere as a young wine, but since 2015, it shows very well and promises a very good aging potential, finds chef de cave Régis Camus. The wine opens deep, pure and fresh on the nose, with very clear white fruit aromas, spiced bread and a very clear definition. Light, fresh and finesse-full on the silky-textured palate, but also round and intense, this is a very elegant and refined vintage Champagne. It has a pure and fresh finish, and a long and intense aftertaste.”

2004 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, October 2018

“A seamless Champagne, showing a texture of raw silk, this weaves vibrant acidity with an expressive range of glazed apple and poached white cherry fruit flavors, with pickled ginger and saffron spice details and rich notes of pastry cream, toast and coffee liqueur. More about finesse than power, this is long and creamy on the mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2028”

1995 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires

Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, June 2016

“Deep, pure and fresh on the fruit-intense and complex nose, the 1995 Blanc des Millenaires is still young and incredibly fresh on the palate. This is refreshingly pure, concentrated, fruity and perfectly round Champagne that reveals a great tension and mineral complexity. It also has a long and salty finish. Keep it for ten or 20 years.”

2007 Bruno Giacosa Spumante Extra Brut

Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, December 2015

“Made entirely with Pinot Nero, this straw colored Metodo Classico opens with subdued aromas of nut and a whiff of bread crust. The palate is more expressive, offering white peach, citrus zest and pastry notes alongside a creamy mousse. An almond note closes the finish.”

2007 Bruno Giacosa Spumante Extra Brut

James Suckling, James Suckling, November 2015

“A firm, fruity white with sliced apple, melon and hints of cream. Full body, a lovely bead and a long finish. This is always super quality. Disgorged in March 2015.”
