2018 Donnafugata Lighea

“This is always a fun grape, and here its expresses apricot and apple candy, pear drops and straw. The palate paints a slightly sweet impression, but the crunchy acidity lifts it through. Drink now.”

2018 Donnafugata Lighea

Ian D'Agata, Vinous, August 2019

“Vivid straw color. Varietally accurate aromas and flavors of greengage, orange blossom, cinnamon, nutmeg and fresh ginger. Juicy fresh and dense in the mouth with a multifaceted quality and a lingering orange liqueur element to the flavors of green fig and sweet spices. Closes long and brightly saline, with a nice spicy presence. A knockout, classically dry Zibibbo.”

2017 Donnafugata Lighea

Ian D'Agata, Vinous, August 2019

“Luminous straw. Enticing aromas of orange, tangerine nectar, figs and sweet spices with a white floral topnote. Juicy and lively, with a saline undercurrent to the fruit flavors. A very pretty wine, just slightly less concentrated and intense than some other recent, better, vintages, but this is still an outstanding example of a classically rendered Zibibbo that tastes classically dry.”

2017 Donnafugata Ben Ryé

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, January 2021

“Flavors of ripe nectarine and wild strawberry, candied almond and orange marmalade burst on the palate in this gorgeous sweetie. It's mouthcoating with its plush creaminess, but it shows a lovely backbone of mouthwatering acidity for balance, carrying the long finish of ripe fruit, cardamom and ginger spice. Drink now through 2030. 610 cases imported.”

2018 Ricasoli Brolio Chianti Classico DOCG

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, April 2021

“This is one of the most celebrated classics to emerge from the entire appellation. The Barone Ricasoli 2018 Chianti Classico Brolio reveals balanced tones of red fruit, cassis, crushed stone, grilled herb and blue flowers. These aromas find balance and harmony with plenty of primary fruit and a good amount of snappy acidity. I could see a pairing with a platter of pecorino cheese wedges.”

2017 Ricasoli Brolio Chianti Classico DOCG

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, September 2019

“This is a fun and easy-drinking wine for informal occasions with your favorite Italian dishes. The 2017 Chianti Classico Brolio is a mid-weight red that opens to a rich ruby color and bright garnet highlights. The bouquet is perfectly clean and pristine, something that can't always be said of entry-level Sangiovese. This wine has crossed all its T's and dotted all the I's. The bouquet is rich and forthcoming with wild berry, blackberry and plum. Fresh acidity pops in on the finish. The blend used here is 80% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. A very generous 460,000 bottles were made, and this price point hits that value wine sweet spot.”

Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2020

“The 2018 Chianti Classico shows just how appealing the vintage is even among entry-level wines. Freshly cut flowers and bright red fruit run through this super-attractive mid-weight Chianti Classico. The 2018 is floral, lifted and very easy to like. Cedar, tobacco and spice accents linger on the close.”

2016 Bibi Graetz Testamatta Rosso

Stephen Brook, Decanter, April 2022

“It would have taken a high degree of incompetence to produce a poor wine in 2016, and Testamatta is a triumph. The nose is lean but elegant, with wafting aromas of cherries, red fruits and a floral tone. Fresh and intense, it has polished tannins and lifted acidity that gives great persistence; a mouthwatering character that's highly seductive. Drinking Window 2022 - 2038”

2019 Bibi Graetz Testamatta Rosso

Stephen Brook, Decanter, April 2022

“Yet another fine year, however some wines in 2019 - although not Testamatta - lacked a little concentration. Relatively light in colour, it's at the other end of the density scale to the wines of the early 2000s. There are piquant raspberry and redcurrant aromas and both the nose and palate show admirable delicacy and restraint. Very elegant and pure, its fine acidity gives excellent length and ageing potential. Drinking Window 2023 - 2036”

2015 Bibi Graetz Testamatta Rosso

Stephen Brook, Decanter, April 2022

“Another fine year produced this pure expression of Sangiovese fruit. The nose is reticent but floral, infused with rose petals and red fruits. It's concentrated on the palate but svelte too, and not overly extracted. The tannins are certainly present but not dominant, balanced by the wine's freshness. There's force and drive on the very long finish. Drinking Window 2022 - 2035”
