2015 Vall Llach Vi de Finca Mas de la Rosa

Thomas Matthews, Wine Spectator, October 2019

“This red is rich and expressive, in a high-toned, racy style. The plush texture carries bold flavors of kirsch, plum pudding, dried fig and cocoa accented by licorice, graphite and garrigue notes. The big tannins are well-integrated, and balsamic acidity keeps this fresh. Verging on Port-like, deep and harmonious. Drink now through 2030. 146 cases made, 30 cases imported. ”

2016 Idus de Vall Llach

Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast, August 2019

“Bold and welcoming black-plum and cassis aromas are helped out by a peppery spice accent. As per usual, this is a full-bodied but not over the top Carignan-Garnacha from one of the region's modern successes. Lush plum, wild berry and chocolate flavors finish savory and smoky not unlike beef jerky. Enjoy Idus through 2027.”

2018 Tinto Pesquera Reserva

Wine & Spirits, June 2022

“Gentle blue fruit sweetness meets the savory structure of this wine, combining in a seamless texture that makes it compelling to drink. The impression of silk and satin lasts, bringing you back for more of the generous fruit in the middle of the wine. A selection from the Fernández Rivera family’s 495 acres of vines in Pesquera de Duero, growing in sand and pebbles over limestone, this is remarkably accessible now; the wine’s integration will serve it well as it ages.”

2015 Tinto Pesquera Millenium Gran Reserva

Gillian Sciaretta, Wine Spectator, January 2021

“This suave red has a juicy, full-bodied profile, with raspberry tart, loamy earth, mountain herb and anise notes mixed with orange peel, tea and sandalwood details. The full tannins are polished and give this structure for the long haul. Drink now through 2036.”

2018 Dehesa La Granja

James Suckling, James Suckling, May 2022

“Sweet plums and red and black berries with a savory edge of dried meat, licorice and iron. This is quite approachable now, with its medium body and chalky tannins that melt away with the savory fruit on the palate. Excellent length. Already drinkable, but give it another year to allow it to develop more complexity.”

2019 Condado de Haza Crianza

James Suckling, James Suckling, May 2022

“Flattering, with ripe, minty blackberries, black plums, tobacco, hazelnuts and a hint of mocha. A full-bodied, tightly wound red with powerful but creamy tannins that will need a year or two to soften more. Long, creamy finish. Drink after 2023.”

2017 Idus de Vall Llach

Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, December 2020

“I was surprised by the bright berry aromas of the 2017 Idus, with notes of raspberries and blackberries and the oak in the background, adding spiciness but not stealing the show. This comes from selected grapes from old vines purchased from local growers; it's a blend of 68% Cariñena and 32% Garnacha with 15.5% alcohol that doesn't show heat or alcohol and comes through as balanced, juicy and powerful but also elegant. It has fine-grained tannins and a dry, long finish. The Cariñena matured in new and second use 225- and 300-liter French oak barrels and the Garnacha in tinaja and 1,50-liter oak vats for 14 months during which time it was racked once. 6,860 bottles were filled in May 2019.”

2018 Tinto Pesquera Crianza

Decanter, July 2021

“Saturated ruby color, with a blue meniscus, than a typical Fernandez nose; nutmeg, blueberry, laurel and soft butter. The palate has focus and pleasing weight, the initial spiciness harnesses the ensemble with an impressive capacity to satisfy.”

2015 Vall Llach Vi de Finca Mas de la Rosa

Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast, December 2019

“Saucy plum and blueberry aromas are a touch stalky and volatile, with notes of wild brush and tomato paste. This varietal Carignan is concentrated but burns with tartaric acidity. Herbal blackberry, wild herb and licorice aromas are heavy, oaky and potent on a hot finish.”

2017 Embruix de Vall Llach

Thomas Matthews, Wine Spectator, October 2019

“This red is dense yet plush, with blackberry and espresso flavors, accented by licorice, wild herb and mineral notes. Well-integrated tannins and balsamic acidity keep this focused. Harmonious, in a savory style. Garnacha, Merlot, Cariñena, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2027. 5,000 cases made, 4,100 cases imported.”

2016 Embruix de Vall Llach

Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast, July 2019

“Bold blackberry, black cherry and raisin aromas are balanced by ingrained minerality, always a good sign for Priorat. A saturated palate fits the house style for Embruix, while toast, coffee, blackberry and prune flavors finish chocolaty but not that long or complex.”

2017 Aigua de Llum de Vall Llach

Thomas Matthews, Wine Spectator, October 2019

“This rich white offers the floral, spicy aromas characteristic of Viognier, but within a rich, lush framework of dried pineapple, orange peel, whiskey and toasted almond flavors that creates an impression of maturity. Features just enough acidity to balance the broad texture. Distinctive, exotic and heady. Drink now. 62 cases made, 25 cases imported. ”
