2020 Amalaya Gran Corte Malbec

Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, November 2021

“The 2020 Gran Corte is a blend of 85% Malbec with 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Tannat from Cafayate aged for 12 months in used barrels. The intense nose offers notes of blackberry chutney, syrup and hints of spice with a balsamic backdrop. Juicy with a terse texture, the tannins bring depth without interfering with the nimble flow or dark fruit flavors.”

2020 Amalaya Gran Corte Malbec

Tim Atkin, Tim Atkin, June 2022

“I’ve long been a fan of this Gran Corte, produced from a blend of Malbec with 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Tannat. Matured in older French and American wood, it’s a poised, nuanced cuvée, showing stony minerality, liquorice, plum and blueberry fruit and a freshness that’s sometimes lacking in wines from northern Argentina. 2023-28”

2021 Amalaya Blanco

Tim Atkin, Tim Atkin, June 2022

“Amalaya’s ultra-reliable white blend marries Torrontés from San Isidro with 15% Riesling from the Finca Las Mercedes. Drier than it tastes, this has some grip from partial skin contact, lime, green fig and tangerine flavours and a combination of texture and balancing freshness. 2022-24”

Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast, May 2023

“A classic Bordeaux blend supplemented by 14% Syrah, this companion brings large amounts of blackberries, coriander and sandalwood spice to the aromatic table. The tannins are sturdy enough to support jammy black cherry and dark plum fruit flavors that are supplemented by cedar and thyme.”

2020 Luke Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast, May 2023

“This meaty powerhouse of a Cabernet Sauvignon packs bushels of blackberries and dried black cherries. It's fuller-bodied, with grippy tannins and elevated acidity. Decanting conjures up aromas and flavors of spicy red cedar wood, dark chocolate and a touch of lemony catmint to accompany the fruit.”

2018 M by Michael Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon

Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Enthusiast, February 2023

“I was blown away by the 2018 M by Michael Mondavi, an incredible wine based on 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 16% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot. Deep, full-bodied, and opulent, yet with perfect balance and a seamless, layered mouthfeel, it has beautiful darker fruits, notes of leafy herbs and chocolate, perfectly integrated oak, and silky tannins. This majestic, flat-out awesome wine will evolve for 20+ years.”

2019 Luke Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

Sean Sullivan, Wine Enthusiast, March 2022

Cellar Selection. Most of the fruit for this wine comes from Weinbau Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope. The aromas bring an intriguing mix of dark chocolate, cocoa, blackberry, cinnamon and licorice. The flavors erupt on the palate, showing density, depth, layering, and intensity. It's hedonistic but also shows proportion and balance and never gets overweighted. It hangs on the lingering finish. It will have a long life ahead of it.”

Charles Heidsieck Champagne Charlie

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, August 2022

“When Cyril Brun was briefed to recreate this iconic cuvée, he struggled to achieve the plenitude and drama he was looking for. Then, he dug in the Heidsieck archives and discovered, as he tells it, that the famous vintages of Charlie, while vintaged on paper, actually contained reserve wines. Brun therefore gave himself carte blanche to draw on the house's best lots to put together the inaugural NV Champagne Charlie, based on the 2016 vintage but incorporating fully 78% reserve wines dating back two decades. Bursting with aromas of golden orchard fruit, brioche, honeycomb, peaches, spices and buttery pastry, it's full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with a layered core of fruit, racy acids and a beautifully refined pinpoint mousse. Some 52% of the blend is Chardonnay, with Brun looking for ripe, exotic Chardonnay to complement more tensile lots of Pinot Noir. It's a compelling, flamboyant wine—the only thing that may make consumers smart is the price.”

Charles Heidsieck Champagne Charlie

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, December 2022

“Cellar Selection. The return with a new iteration of this iconic Champagne, first produced in the 1980s, and named after Charles Heidsieck one of the great Champagne promoters of the 19th century, is to be welcomed. The wine itself lives up to the billing of its history, rich in the house style and with just a hint of maturity. This great wine, still full of white fruits, has so many years ahead. The wine is likely to mature gently for a decade at least.”
